The Newport Rotary Club was established in 1955 as part of Rotary International, a world-wide community service organization. Rotarians are a group of neighbors, friends, and leaders who come together to exchange ideas and take action in communities around the world.

 

Rotary International supports programs within sever areas of focus: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers & Children, Supporting Education, Growing Local Economies, and the Environment. 

 

The Lincoln County Foundation was formed to facilitate the collection of tax-deductible contributions for the Newport Rotary Club. Our Club provides support for Newport, the Central Oregon Coast, and our world-wide community. We consider the following criteria to determine if an organization or project should be supported by the Newport Rotary.

 

• What will be the impact on the community?

• Does the project have matching funds?

• How many individuals will benefit directly or indirectly?

• Is the request within the Club’s budget projections?

• Will Newport Rotarians need to raise funds to support the project?

• Is this a one-time request or continuing commitment?

• Does the project align with Rotary International’s seven areas of focus?

 

 

The following is the grant application process;

 

1. Give the Newport Rotary Club “Grant Application Form” and supporting documents to the Sponsoring Rotarian.

 

2. The Sponsoring Rotarian will give copies the the Rotary Club President.

 

3. The Club President will distribute copies to the Rotary Club Board.

 

4. The Sponsoring Rotarian and the Grant Applicant should attend a Board meeting, to provide any needed background or other information.

 

5. At the next regularly scheduled Rotary Club Board meeting, the Board will review the grant application. The Board will deliberate after the Sponsoring Rotarian and/or Grant Applicant leaves the meeting. The Board’s decision will be provided to the Sponsoring Rotarian and the Grant Applicant after the Board meeting.
